Overall

• Work with the ED to develop goals and objectives for the Region
• Evaluate, assess, and report programming and outcomes
• Participate in regional and national committees as appropriate
• Promote NLM services and products by continually reaching out to community partners and other organizations
• Maintain established methods and seek new ways to communicate with members, potential members, and partners within the Region

Outreach

• Identify underserved areas and develop outreach plans including training, demonstrations, follow-up, and evaluation in service area
• Continually monitor and review evaluations and feedback for program and process improvement
• Identify and develop new network partnerships with unaffiliated/underserved health care professionals, consumers, librarians, and community groups
• Respond to network member requests for marketing and training materials on NLM products and services
• Promote and exhibit NLM Resources at national, regional, and local conferences
• Participate on committees at the local, regional, and national level

Education

• Provide online and/in-person reference, consulting, training, and technical advice in support of NLM systems including PubMed, MedlinePlus, TOXNET, ClinicalTrials, etc., and databases and resources focused on data and data management.
• Train librarians and other health care professionals and educators in the use and management of data
• Apply adult learning theories, principles, and practices to support teaching and learning.
• Serve as an instructor for the National Training Office’s Biomedical and Health Research Data Management for Librarians course (RDM 101)
• Serve as an instructor/support for data management academies, the Carpentries, etc., from the National Library of Medicine
• Teach data-driven decision making to members of the general public
• Plan, design, promote, and teach online and in-person curriculum and classes and workshops related to NLM programs, services, and informational resources to librarians, consumers, and health professionals
• Monitor regional trends as well as previously identified needs and plan programming targeting those specific audiences
• Develop and evaluate instructional programs

Sub-award support

• Provide network members support in project planning, proposal preparation, submission, and project evaluation
• Assess and evaluate programs within the RML for continuous improvement
• Solicit applications for awards and subcontracts
• Serve as member of proposal review team; make recommendations for funding
• Post award, monitor and report on network member project progress for those funded
• Provide assistance and consultation when problems or delays occur

General duties

Required:

• ALA accredited graduate degree or an advanced degree in another discipline.
• Experience teaching to a variety of audience levels.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively in both oral and written communications.
• Ability to work cooperatively in a demanding and changing environment with all levels of staff and members of the public.
• Ability to meet deadlines.
• Ability to travel to off-site locations.
• Knowledge of current and emerging trends in teaching and learning in library instruction.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of NLM and NCBI databases.
• Extensive knowledge in data and data management.
• Significant experience in library or community outreach, or similar work.
• Apply adult learning theories, principles, and practices to support teaching and learning Knowledge of NLM’s programs and strategic initiatives.
• A record of professional, scholarly research activity.
• MLA Data Services Specialization

Salary is commensurate with education/experience. $65,000 for candidate with required education and appropriate experience.
